Prenatal Massage in North York
Can't find a comfortable position anymore?
Pregnancy asks a lot of your body, and the aches that come with it are real. Prenatal massage is registered massage therapy designed for this time. You'll rest comfortably on your side, supported by pillows, while your RMT uses gentle, pregnancy-safe techniques to ease back pain, hip and pelvic discomfort, sciatica, leg cramps and swelling. Most extended health plans cover it, and we bill your insurer directly, so there's one less thing to worry about.

Is prenatal massage right for you?
Pregnancy changes how you carry weight, sleep and move. Prenatal massage is for the discomfort that comes with that, at any stage your doctor or midwife is comfortable with.
- Lower back pain as your posture shifts
- Hip, pelvic or round-ligament discomfort
- Sciatica: pain running down the back of the leg
- Leg cramps and tired, swollen feet and ankles
- Trouble sleeping or getting comfortable
- Stress and anxiety during pregnancy
- After birth: neck, shoulder and back strain from feeding and carrying your baby
What a prenatal massage session is like
1
Tell us how far along you are
Mention it when you book. Your RMT will ask about your pregnancy, any complications, and what is bothering you most.
2
Get comfortable on your side
You lie on your side, supported by pillows under your head, belly and knees. You will never be asked to lie on your stomach. [Confirm: semireclined option]
3
Gentle, focused
treatment
Pressure is adjusted for pregnancy. Your RMT focuses on your back, hips, legs and shoulders and avoids techniques that are not appropriate during pregnancy.
4
Take it home with you
Leave with simple stretches and sleeping positions to keep you comfortable between visits.
Before you book
We recommend checking with your doctor or midwife before booking, especially in the first trimester. Please talk to them first if any of these apply:
- You have a high-risk pregnancy or have been told to limit activity
- You have sudden or one-sided swelling, severe headaches or vision changes
- You have any bleeding, fluid leakage or contractions
- You have a history of blood clots

Prenatal Massage Questions
Is prenatal massage safe in the first trimester?
Many people have massage throughout pregnancy, but we recommend checking with your doctor or midwife first, particularly in the first trimester. Tell us how far along you are when you book.
Will I have to lie on my stomach?
No. You lie on your side, supported by pillows, so there is no pressure on your belly. Your RMT will help you change sides partway through.
Do I need a note from my doctor or midwife?
Not to book with us. Some insurance plans require a doctor's prescription for massage to be reimbursed, so check your plan. Can massage help with swollen feet and ankles?
Can massage help with swollen feet and ankles?
Swelling is one of the most common reasons patients book. Your RMT will check with you first, because sudden or one-sided swelling should be seen by your doctor or midwife before massage.
Do you offer massage after the baby arrives?
Yes. Nicole is trained in postpartum massage for the neck, shoulder and back strain that comes with feeding and carrying a newborn.
