So we’d like to help by sharing a bit about Zoe Luc, our newest Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) to join us. Zoe shares about her style as a therapist and what you can expect during a massage therapy treatment.
First off, I would like to thank Brightpath Health and Wellness for giving me such a great opportunity to join their team. I am excited to start my practice here and help our patients holistically from an integrative perspective. Before you decide to book your appointment with me, here’s a little more about who I am and why I am practising massage therapy.
Listening to Your Needs
My main goal as a therapist is to provide the best massage therapy experience for every patient who walks into my treatment room. I actively listen to your concerns and develop a treatment plan with you that you’re comfortable with. Beyond providing hands-on treatment, I love to share my knowledge in anatomy with my patients so they can be more mindful of their body and empowered to take care of their own health.
Will a Massage be Painful?
Every therapist has their own style and touch to massage, which is what makes each therapist so unique. Finding a good therapist that can meet your needs and the style of massage you’re comfortable with is quite personal to each individual. This can be as difficult as finding a good hairstylist that understands what you want.
My approach to massage aims to combine mechanical effectiveness and relaxation. I personally don’t believe in the “no pain, no gain” motto in massage, and I definitely won’t stick an elbow in your back for no valid reason. I believe that if your body and mind can relax during the treatment, it will be easier for me (and for you) to get to the specific tissues we need to treat, especially the deeper ones. And why wouldn’t anyone want to feel good both during and after a massage? What you should expect to feel during the treatment is pressure and slight movements. Sometimes, you might feel slight sensation of tightness and pain in tighter areas but the level of pain should not exceed the sensation of a stubbed toe. Having said that, feel free to let me know if you prefer certain techniques, or if the treatment feels uncomfortable, and I will be happy to adjust accordingly.
Integrating Yoga, Anatomy & more
I recently became certified as a Yoga Instructor in 2019. Although I currently don’t have the availability to teach a yoga class, many of the self-care exercises I like to recommend are based on yoga. Applying my knowledge in anatomy and physiology, I combine yoga theories to develop routines that are specific to your needs and I believe would be a complement to your treatment.
I am dedicated to continuously learn more and improve my skills everyday. If your condition is more complex and takes longer to find relief, I will use everything in my “massage toolbox” to help you out and commit time to finding resources to understand your condition. All in all, you can describe me as a therapist that will not give up on you.
